TikTokers Learned What ‘Check Kiting’ Was and Immediately Started Committing a Federal Crime

Over the weekend, a new “hack” started going viral on TikTok. This hack involved depositing a check for money you don’t have, then withdrawing cash.

You might be thinking, “Isn’t this just check kiting?” Well, yes, it is, and it’s a federal crime, but that didn’t stop idiots on TikTok from trying it out.

How many people actually did this is unclear. While the “hack” was going around TikTok for the past few days, it looks like most people had the good sense to not actually try it out.

That said, there are at least a few people who headed to their local Chase bank, withdrew a bunch of money, and are now launching themselves full speed into a criminal sentence and, most likely, generational debt.

Pro tip: If you think you’re going to get one over on the bank, it’s only a matter of time until they get one over on you.
